How do you know you are out of your comfort zone. We only get the thermostat effect when we actually know that we are under- or over–achieving, according to what we believe. When we get out of our comfort zone:
- We find it hard to retrieve information (exams)
- The voice-box is affected (7% words, 38% tone)
- We have muscle spasms (clumsy and drop things)
- The hands sweat (lie detector tests work because they detect moisture)
Other people are aware that you are out of your comfort zone because they can hear your voice and watch you become nervous. This adds to confirming to yourself that you shouldn’t be there. You can prepare yourself to manage and exceed your comfort zone into a positive zone, and control your thermostat by recognising that your stories have created your realities, and by using affirmations.
